Most travel content about Poland is written by people who spent a weekend here. Maps, ebooks, the usual. And using Kraków as an example - they nearly all send you to the same five spots on the Old Town square, then to Auschwitz, then for vodka and pierogi.
That's it.
That's the country,
apparently…
That's the version of Poland I'm not interested in.
I was born in Bochnia - a small town an hour east of Kraków that most foreigners have never heard of and most Poles know mainly for the salt mine that isn't Wieliczka (and the one in Bochnia is, of course, way better). I grew up in a village just outside it.
Kraków was the closest city, the one I kept coming back to growing up, and I've lived here for over twelve years now. So when I tell you something is worth your time in Kraków, in Małopolska, or in Poland - I've actually been there. Often more than once. Usually with opinions.
In Polish Ways started as a YouTube channel. The premise was simple, and a little annoyed: make the videos I wished existed when friends from abroad asked me where to go or what to eat or why there is no Dunkin Donuts in Poland?!
No top-ten lists copied from three other top-ten lists. No "hidden gems" that fifty thousand other tourists have already added to their own list of hidden gems. No "Poland is so underrated!" energy. Specific places, real context, occasionally irritable about tourist traps that charge 60 PLN for a few pierogi when you can get a full plate for 12.
