Short version: we use one analytics tool and almost nothing else. Here's the full picture.
What we use
Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and read our content - which articles people read, how they arrive at the site, and which films they watch. This data helps us decide what to write and film next.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (_ga, _ga_*)
that persist for up to 2 years. This only happens if you click Accept
in the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is
collected about your visit.
Google Tag Manager is the container through which Analytics loads. It does not set its own cookies.
YouTube embeds
Long Way video pages embed YouTube players. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies. This is YouTube's behaviour, not ours. If you prefer not to have YouTube cookies, you can watch directly on our YouTube channel.
Newsletter (MailerLite)
The newsletter sign-up form is powered by MailerLite. It may set a session cookie to manage the subscription flow. This cookie expires when you close your browser.
What we don't use
No advertising cookies. No remarketing pixels. No Facebook Pixel. No cross-site tracking. No cookies that follow you around the internet.
Your choices
You can accept or decline analytics cookies at any time using the banner at the bottom of the screen. If you've already made a choice and want to change it, use the link below.
You can also manage or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the site work.
